For Phalcon, PHP2Shell remediation requires patching the PHP runtime. The application version helps identify compatibility blockers; it cannot establish exploitability or prove that either CVE is fixed.

Phalcon - Remove blockers to patch PHP2Shell

Phalcon is a compiled PHP extension. Composer updates alone cannot install a matching phalcon.so or Windows DLL. The 5.9 documentation declares PHP 8.1 or newer, but this does not certify every ABI or binary package. Match PHP version, architecture and NTS/ZTS, rebuild or install the vendor-supported extension, and confirm it loads in FPM as well as CLI.

Dependencies and custom code to review

  • phalcon.so / php_phalcon.dll
  • PHP ABI
  • NTS / ZTS
  • PDO
  • Zephir
  • Volt

Phalcon - PHP2Shell patch verification

Verify both CVE fixes in the PHP actually serving this site. Replace or restart old Web workers, queue workers and replicas. A working homepage or a newer CLI binary is insufficient evidence.
